mindful Self-Compassion
Susan Walzer was a member of the Skidmore sociology program for 25 years. Her teaching and research focused on emotions, family relationships and transitions, social psychology, and issues in higher education. During her time at the college, she served as a department chair and on a variety of committees. Susan also provided counsel to colleagues based on qualitative research she guided and conducted about student and faculty cultures. These experiences, coupled with her clinical background and training as a teacher of mindful self-compassion, all inform her current workshops and consultations about navigating challenges of academic life.
