Any or all of the following are good “first call” resources, or whom to call to find out whom to call for your particular needs.

The following sources are available to contact about up-to-date information about Parkinson's, referrals to healthcare professionals, emotional support, community resources and a wide variety of free publications.

Contacting any of these folks will allow you to speak directly to a person that has expertise to get you help for a variety of needs. A good “first call” for any non-emergency questions.

- Catholic Charities, Francine Meade, caregivers support, +1 (518) 372-5667.

- Albany County Department for Aging, Matthew Hanrahan, 518 447-7198. He can direct you to other counties’ resources as well.

- Alzheimer’s Association, caregiver and referral services, Shannon Lawler, (518) 867-4999 ext. 306. Serving needs of those dealing with Parkinson’s and other conditions, not restricted to Alzheimer’s.

- NThe Albany Neighborhood Naturally Occurring Retirement Community (NNORC) helps people aged 60 and over age in place. NNORC staff coordinates services and community resources that help seniors maintain their quality of life and independence, access services, and remain connected to their neighborhoods.
